Gas Heat Technicians are responsible for measuring, cutting, reaming and threading steel pipes, fabricating tubing, and assembling and testing gas conveyance systems made from various materials.

Refrigeration Mechanics focus on assembling, testing, operating, troubleshooting and servicing a wide range of refrigeration systems. The expertise and hands-on experience gained in this lab extend beyond the industry, finding applications in many other fields as well.

Rotating Machines and Power Systems Lab

In the Rotating Machines and Power Systems Lab students engage in connection and analysis of AC and DC generating systems, as well as motors and motor control systems. They work with single and three-phase transformers, exploring the behaviour of inductive, capacitive and resistive loads. Additionally, students analyze and address power quality issues, gaining hands-on experience in diagnosing and correcting inefficiencies within electrical systems.

In the VR Welding Lab students practice welding in a safe, risk-free environment. Students are able to try different types of welds, positions, material and even oxy-fuel cutting on a realistic job site. The weld can be manipulated with the same precision as welding in a shop or on a jobsite. This lab is built to give students the confidence they need to be successful before they step into the shop.
