Facility Services

• Responsible for the maintenance of College building systems including building envelope (roof and exterior walls) and all interior finishes (walls, ceilings and floor coverings). This includes carpentry, brickwork, welding, painting, roof work, floor covering, window coverings and various signage at all campus locations.
• Organizes, plans, directs and supervises building maintenance staff and contractors to ensure projects and renovations are within allocated resources and completed in a timely manner. Responsible for preparing and controlling the maintenance budget while ensuring efficient and effective use of human, fiscal and physical resources.
• Responsible for the building hardware system, which includes doors, lock systems and key cutting operations.
• Accountable for providing and overseeing the contracts related to refuse removal and recycling services.
• Establishes the specifications for contract custodial tenders and monitors the housekeeping services to ensure that the College's standards are met and within the approved budget.
• Ensures that the College grounds are kept in an attractive and safe state of operation through landscape and snow maintenance programs.

• Outbound Shipping Services: Provides outbound shipping services via UPS for the College. Fill out this form and attach to your package before bringing to Shipping (C061-FF).

• Copy Paper and Toner for Fleet Machines: Delivers and provides paper for fleet copy machines.
• Shredding Bin Drop-off and Pick-up: Provides shredding bin drop-off and pick-up through the maintenance ticketing system (maintenance [at] mohawkcollege.ca (subject: Shredding%20Bin%20Drop-off%20and%20Pick-up) (maintenance[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)).

Mailroom

• Provides Distribution of Incoming College Mail: College Mail is distributed to assigned Department Mailboxes. Mailboxes are located on the outside wall of the Mailroom.
• Canada Post Metering/Stamping for Assorted College Mail-Outs: For letter Metering/Stamping our Mailroom is equipped with a Pitney Bowes Metering Machine
  • Any mail requiring Metering/Stamping can be placed in the Mail to be Metered Mail Slot located on the outside wall (by C018 Mohawk College Print Shop) of the Mailroom.
• Sending Pre-Stamped Mail: Any mail that is pre-stamped can be placed in the Stamped Mail Slot located on the outside wall (by C018 Mohawk College Print Shop) of the Mailroom.
• Internal Mail (Inter-Department Mail): Envelopes for Internal Mail (beige envelope with holes and tie-closure, marked “Inter-Department Mail Envelope”) can be placed in the Internal Mail Slot located on the outside wall (by C018 Mohawk College Print Shop) of the Mailroom. (This service is for mail for internal Mohawk College distribution only).

Engineering Services

• Provides engineering design, specifications, and drawings by supervising contracts between the College and consultants. Provides engineering and technical support for the Facilities Planning Department and Facilities Services.
• Tenders and supervises renovation and construction projects.
• Ensures all regional, provincial and federal legal obligations, such as building codes and regulations, are observed as they apply to institutional facilities.
• Troubleshoots problems caused by design deficiencies and provides corrective action with regard to facilities or building systems. Reviews designs, which impact the College for all new construction projects.
• Maintains the technical library and drawing files for Facilities Services.

Facilities Planning

• Provides corporate planning to ensure proper facilities and learning environment for all College programs and activities.
• Develops the Master Space Plan.
• Prepares college-wide Capital Plan, the Major Projects Plan, the Equipment and Renovation Plan.
• Responsible for reporting the full-time and continuing education enrollment as part of the Ministry's annual enrollment audit process.
• Responsible for initial planning, coordinating and implementation of approved renovations, equipment, and capital projects, including the acquisition and installation of related classroom and office furnishings.
• Plans and coordinates lab and classroom layouts, office set-ups, office moves and installation of ergonomic workstations and furniture.

It is intended to meet the requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Ontario Regulation 191/11 for the procedures for preventative and emergency maintenance of the accessible elements in public spaces as required under Section 80.44, the maintenance of accessible elements set forth under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. Mohawk College Facility Operations has procedures for preventative and emergency maintenance of accessible elements in its public spaces. Accessible public space elements maintained by Facility Operations include common interior spaces and exterior travel paths, such as walkways, stairs, and ramps, where the Ontario Building Code does not already cover these elements, and parking lots at the Fennell and Stoney Creek Campuses.
