Labs and Simulation Spaces
Activities of Daily Living
Recognizing that healthcare-specific experiential learning transcends the bedside of a hospital/clinic environment, the CHSR has two apartment-styled spaces that afford learners the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills within a home-care setting. Learners can help simulated participants navigate their ADLs in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom- to allow for a broader range of preparation within community/residential healthcare.
Cardiovascular Technology Lab
The Cardiovascular Technology lab allows students to practice clinical techniques using industry-standard equipment, software, and processes. Students learn how to connect Holter monitors, perform and evaluate ECGs, supervise exercise stress testing, and learn the basics of programming cardiac implantable devices, such as pacemakers. CVT grads are prepared for a variety of careers in hospitals, clinics, and industry!
Cell Biology Lab
An active learning and discovery space where students build foundational skills in cell biology, as well as agriculture and food biotechnology, and faculty conduct applied research, creating a collaborative environment that bridges teaching, experimentation, and innovation.
Clinical Skills Lab
The Clinical Skills Lab provides a realistic hospital style environment where students can learn and practice essential patient care skills. With multiple beds, medical equipment and hands-on learning stations, this space helps learners build confidence, teamwork and clinical readiness before entering real healthcare settings.
CT Scanner Control Room
In the GE Revolution Dual energy CT room students and researchers use technology needed to simulate and perform real-world CT procedures including research. This area is used by Mohawk staff and students as well as external research professionals.
Diagnostic Sonography Lab
The Diagnostic Sonography Lab provides a realistic clinical environment where students can develop hands-on ultrasound skills. This space includes dedicated scanning bays and professional equipment, allowing learners to practice patient care, build confidence and prepare for real clinical placements.
General and Analytical Chemical Lab
Focused on quantitative chemical analysis and wet chemistry techniques, equipped with two new flame photometers for measuring metal ion concentrations such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and lithium.
General Chemistry Lab
A foundational laboratory where students develop essential industry‑related skills in titration, pH measurement, and core wet‑chemistry techniques used across environmental, chemical, and biotechnology technician roles.
Health Sciences Experiential Learning Lab
This lab provides a dedicated space for learning and simulated, experiential activities for students in the Recreation Therapy program.
