Labs and Simulation Spaces
Autobody Shop
In this shop, autobody collision and refinishing technicians repair and restore damaged motor vehicle body parts and interiors. They repaint body surfaces, repair and replace automotive glass as well as repair defective automobile body parts and damage to the bodies of newly assembled cars. Estimators assess the degree of damage to a vehicle and the cost of parts and labour.
Building Renovation Shop
In the Building and Renovation Shop we create projects that renovators encounter during their standard work day. We keep our projects as large as possible to ensure “full scale learning” is achieved. In this shop you are required to work in groups and follow all drawings and safety regulations as set out by the professor(s).
Carpentry Lab
In this shop students will gain the skills and knowledge to enter the workforce as high skilled carpenters. They will work with the most current tools, equipment and technology found within the industry to learn the importance of sustainable practices, using eco-friendly materials, and minimizing waste.
Drafting Lab
In the Drafting Lab, students develop the skills needed to read, create and interpret technical drawings used in the skilled trades. Working with industry-standard software and drafting tools, learners practice producing precise plans, layouts and schematics that reflect real construction and manufacturing requirements. The lab provides a hands-on environment where students refine their accuracy, attention to detail and understanding of design standards essential for success in trades and technical fields.
Electrical Lab
In this lab students complete projects that simulate typical work in residential, commercial or industrial settings. Students work on everything from wiring installations in a dwelling unit to motor control in a commercial setting to programming AC and DC drives that would be typical in industry.
Electronics Lab
In the Electronics Lab, students learn how to diagnose, test and repair the electrical and electronic systems found in today’s vehicles. Using industry-standard diagnostic tools, wiring schematics and component test benches, learners practice everything from basic circuitry and soldering techniques to advanced troubleshooting of sensors, control modules and multiplexed systems. The lab provides a hands-on environment where students build the foundational skills needed to confidently service modern automotive electronics.
Electronics Lab
Electronic circuits and devices play a vital role in our modern society and our reliance on electronics will continue to increase. In this lab students explore the fundamentals of electronic circuits and devices by designing, building and testing industry-standard circuitry. This hands-on experience equips students with the essential skills needed to thrive in an increasingly electronic-driven world.
Elevating Device Lab
The Elevating Device Lab is equipped with a range of equipment commonly used by elevator mechanics in the field. In this lab, students engage in practical tasks that closely resemble those they will perform on job sites. This lab includes a traction elevator, a hydraulic elevator, two shafts for constructing various elevator components, a lift for individuals with disabilities, an escalator and various controllers designed to enhance troubleshooting skills.
