Labs and Simulation Spaces
Electricity Lab
Students build practical skills using industry-relevant equipment while exploring the technologies that power homes, businesses, and modern infrastructure.
Electronics Lab (Airport)
First-year students from all three Mohawk aviation technician programs—Aircraft Maintenance, Aircraft Structures and Avionics Maintenance—will use this lab to learn basic electrical and electronic theory, providing them with fundamental hands-on skills in circuit diagnostics and repair.
Electronics Lab (Fennell Campus)
The Electronics Lab at Mohawk College’s Fennell Campus provides students with a hands-on learning environment where they can design, build, test, and troubleshoot electronic circuits and systems. Equipped with industry-standard computer workstations, networking equipment, and electronic testing tools, the lab supports practical learning in areas such as electronics, digital systems, communications, and embedded technologies. Students develop real-world technical skills through applied projects that mirror current industry practices.
Electronics Lab 1 (Stoney Creek)
Electronic circuits and devices play a vital role in our modern society and our reliance on electronics will continue to increase. In this lab students explore the fundamentals of electronic circuits and devices by designing, building and testing industry-standard circuitry. This hands-on experience equips students with the essential skills needed to thrive in an increasingly electronic-driven world.
Electronics Lab 2 (Stoney Creek)
In the Electronics Lab, students learn how to diagnose, test and repair the electrical and electronic systems found in today’s vehicles. Using industry-standard diagnostic tools, wiring schematics and component test benches, learners practice everything from basic circuitry and soldering techniques to advanced troubleshooting of sensors, control modules and multiplexed systems. The lab provides a hands-on environment where students build the foundational skills needed to confidently service modern automotive electronics.
Electrotechnology Lab
The Electrotechnology Lab at Mohawk College’s Fennell Campus provides students with hands-on experience in electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and control systems. Using industry-standard equipment and technology, students develop practical skills in system design, testing, troubleshooting, and automation while preparing for careers in today’s evolving electrical and manufacturing industries.
Elevating Device Lab
The Elevating Device Lab is equipped with a range of equipment commonly used by elevator mechanics in the field. In this lab, students engage in practical tasks that closely resemble those they will perform on job sites. This lab includes a traction elevator, a hydraulic elevator, two shafts for constructing various elevator components, a lift for individuals with disabilities, an escalator and various controllers designed to enhance troubleshooting skills.
Emergency Operations Centre
C232 is a specialized lab space designed as a fully functional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). This immersive learning environment replicates the structure and operations of a real-world emergency management centre, providing students with hands-on experience in incident response, crisis coordination, and strategic decision-making.
Energy & Power Management Lab
The Energy and Power Management Lab gives students hands-on experience with electrical energy systems, renewable power technologies, and smart energy management. The lab supports learning in power generation, distribution, substations, microgrids, and energy conservation using industry-standard equipment and real-world systems. Students gain practical skills that prepare them for careers in hydro utilities, renewable energy and electrical power engineering.
