Guest Speaker: Dr. Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux A talk about Truth and Reconciliation
Wednesday, September 25, 2019, 12 – 1 pm | McIntyre Theatre
In 2016, Dr. Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux was appointed as the first Indigenous Chair for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada and continues to develop pathways forward to reconciliation in Canada. She was inducted as an Honourary Witness by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and is a member of the Governing Circle for the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation at the University of Manitoba. Cynthia is a member of the Chippewa of Georgina Island First Nation in Ontario and has dedicated her life to building bridges of understanding between peoples.
Orange Shirt Day

Indigenous Education & Student Services (IESS) invites the Mohawk College community to participate in Orange Shirt Day. The annual Orange Shirt Day is held on September 30th every year and opens the door to conversations on all aspects of Residential Schools and the legacy and effects they have left behind.
On September 30, wear orange in support of bringing awareness to residential schools, their legacy, and survivors.

Yoga (Special Evening Event)
Please join us in the Hoop Dance for a yoga session in partnership with Lululemon. This is open to all students and staff. This session will take place on Friday September 13th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Fall Welcome Social
Join Indigenous Education & Student (IESS) as we celebrate the beginning of the semester with a Haudenosaunee Social with dinner, social songs, and dancing in partnership with the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre on Friday September 27th from 5:00pm – 8:30pm in DBARC Gym 3. Drop-in Cultural Crafting
Thursday’s throughout the Fall Semester (bi-weekly) join our Indigenous Awareness Programmer, Amanda Aitchison for a drop-in crafting time for students. This month drop-in programming will be provided on Thursday September 12th and 26th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in A114. Spend as much or a little time learning to make various crafts each week.
