Cara-Lea, David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre Yoga instructor, introduces you to the practice of pranayama, the yogic concept of breath control.

Pranayama exercises can allow you to gain more control of your breath, and remain in control even during stressful circumstances. It can also slowly build your focus and create a deeper connection and awareness of your thoughts.

In the video below, Cara-Lea offers two types of pranayama techniques, alternate nostril breathing and 4-7-9 breathing. Both are effective in helping calm the body and relieve tension, stress and anxiety.
