Apply to be a Student Sustainability Organizer!

Student Sustainability Organizers will be part of a group that is contributing to a new project at Mohawk College: Responsible Futures.

Responsible Futures is a program where “universities and colleges are supported to make transformative changes to their teaching and learning, strategies, and policies in partnership with their students”. It works to integrate sustainability and climate justice into aspects of the institution.

We want you to help drive this change and transformation as a Student Sustainability Organizer!

As a Student Sustainability Organizer, You Will…

  • Attend mandatory monthly meetings  
  • Commit approximately four hours a month to this role (this includes time spent attending meetings)
  • Advise College staff on wholistic sustainability (people, planet, profit)
  • Provide recommendations to reach sustainable development criteria
  • Contribute to a project in the form of a campaign, feedback session, event (or another idea)  
  • Participate in a final session that brings staff and students together 
  • Foster a respectful environment that engages the College community in creating a culture that embodies decolonization & decarbonization
  • Receive training, learning, and resume building opportunities

All applicants will be reached out to in the coming weeks.  Students selected to be Student Sustainability Organizers will also receive an invite to an orientation session at this time.
