After completing two modules of the Workplace Preparation Program at Mohawk College, Magaly felt prepared to start the job search in Canada. Read her story below.

"I had been taking the Workplace Preparation Program since the 2021 academic calendar began. Having already passed the Workplace Communication and Job Search Techniques modules, I had learned about the most effective ways to access the Canadian job market. Today I can share with you that I was hired as an Administrative Clerk in a local company.

I must say that this has been the only job interview I have had in Canada, and that thanks to the preparation and continuous practices developed in the Workplace Preparation Program, I felt very comfortable and well prepared when meeting the employer. During the interview they asked me about myself, so the elevator speech was the key to capturing the interviewer's attention. Having it memorized gave me the confidence to break the tension from the first moment, and from then on, I was more confident to move forward with the other questions. After this, I followed the recommendations to keep in contact with them through an email thanking them for the interview and asking them for feedback, which they saw as a gesture of proactivity and professionalism. Their feedback was verbal and there they told me that they had been overly impressed with my great performance in the interview.

I am grateful to my teacher Jayne, for her patience and the excellent guidance she provided us with in each session. I am sure that the success of my experience is entirely due to having effectively used everything I learned during the program.

Thanks Jayne and thanks to the whole team!
