The Co-Curricular Record (CCR) recognizes your involvement in meaningful, non-academic experiences throughout your time as a student at Mohawk. It complements your academic transcript by highlighting the skills, knowledge, and personal growth you've developed outside the classroom, giving a more complete view of your overall college experience.

There are a variety of co-curricular experiences both on and off campus that you can get involved in and get CCR recognition for, whether it be of personal interest or professional development. What You’ll Gain by Getting Involved

Importance of Competencies/Learning Outcomes

Each position includes a set of competency statements derived from Mohawk’s five Institutional Learning Outcomes that appear on your Co-Curricular Record. The competency statements relating to each position explain in a tangible way what you have learned and/or how you have gained experience by participating in the activity, supporting your growth in key areas that contribute to both your education and future career.

Mohawk's Institutional Learning Outcomes include:

Communication:

The activity helps develop the ability to communicate effectively with others of diverse background, values and personalities to develop meaningful relationships, share knowledge, manage conflict, solve problems, and foster positive change.

Collaboration:

Your role offers the opportunity to collaborate openly and productively across networks to enhance knowledge, generate innovative ideas, resolve challenges and respond to change.

Critical Thinking & Creative Problem Solving:

The volunteer position recognizes that creativity, problem solving and critical thinking skills can be of benefit to assess risk, make informed decisions and take appropriate timely action.

Continuous Learning:

The volunteer opportunity offers the chance to develop practical knowledge, career- or life-oriented skills; transferable skills and abilities; capacity to use learning technologies to stay current, pursue professional development, and personal renewal opportunities.

Personal, Educational & Career Development:

Technical Competence
Adaptability & Flexibility
Planning & Organization

Responsible Citizen:

The activity helps you develop a sense of your role as a citizen; to apply personal, professional and social practices promoting physical, economic and emotional well-being; and also to foster civic engagement.

Troubleshooting

Why are my positions listed as pending? How do I get them approved?

Positions are listed as pending when they have been entered by a student but have yet to be approved by a validator. Staff typically enter into the database to validate positions once per month. If you need your CCR positions validated sooner (to apply for jobs or awards), contact the staff validator. If you do not know the validator, contact Student Life for assistance %20student.life [at] mohawkcollege.ca (student[dot]life[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca).

Can I add hours to a position once it’s been approved?

After a position has reached its minimum of 5 hours and is approved by a validator, it can still be edited. Students may continue to add hours to their positions until the end of the academic year (August 20th). Validators review their positions regularly to ensure that no positions have an incorrect number of hours.

Why are some approved positions listed as having zero hours or NA?

Hours are only added to positions that reflect volunteer work. Participatory engagement (e.g. workshops, events, campus employment, athletics, etc.) can still be reflected on the CCR but do not track hours.

Why was my position declined?

Due to the volume of positions in the CCR directory, some positions may appear similar. Check to make sure that you did not add the wrong position to your record. Ensure that the correct position is added to your record after you complete the activity. Staff validators will only approve positions where they can confirm the student’s involvement.
