Field Placement Specialist (FPS)

The CICE program provides support from a Field Placement Specialist. The Field Placement Specialist will work with the students throughout their time in the program. The FPS support includes scheduling one to one interviews, providing placement preparation information, securing and confirming placements. The FPS will ensure that placements are scheduled to individual student timetables and requested geographical locations where possible.

Professional and personal skills are practiced and reinforced for students to have a successful placement experience. Our core CICE classes address topics such as communication, feedback, professionalism, disclosure, and confidentiality. Students will meet with our Career Ready staff to build a professional resume.

Students are expected to complete required pre-placement training and the non-academic requirements for their placements. Students are expected to communicate with the FPS in a timely manner to ensure placement success.

Placement Requirements

Students will complete online training modules (AODA, Health & Safety, Workplace Harassment & Workplace Violence, WHMIS) before they are able to attend placement. Our Field Placement Specialist will assist them to complete a Placement Confirmation Form. Students may also be required to provide additional documentation at the request of the placement agency, i.e., Police Clearance, Immunization records, TB Testing. All costs associated with any additional placement requirements are the responsibility of the student. Students are responsible for transportation to placement.

Students will attend placement independently.
