Mohawk College has been a proud leader in sustainability since 2011, when it became the first college in Ontario to adopt a comprehensive environmental management plan. Through ongoing efforts to decarbonize its buildings and fleet vehicles, the college has already reduced greenhouse gas emissions by over 70% from 2007 levels.
In 2025, Mohawk College launched the School of Climate Action, a hub for education, research, and partnerships that empower students and communities to lead on climate solutions. The college also became the first in North America to earn Responsible Futures accreditation, recognizing its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility in postsecondary education.
Guided by its new Climate Action Plan, Mohawk is advancing bold, institution-wide efforts to support a just, inclusive transition to a net zero future.
The college has been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 12 consecutive years and was the first in Ontario to achieve a STARS Gold rating from AASHE.
