General Education electives are intended to provide broader learning outside of a student’s primary area of study. As such, some General Education electives are restricted for specific programs because the course content overlaps with core curriculum or because the course is already a mandatory General Education requirement within the program. Students registering in a General Education elective outside of their scheduled Program of Study sequence (for example, through Missed/Failed registration, special authorization, or Continuing Education) are responsible for ensuring that they do not register in a restricted course.
The table below outlines current General Education elective restrictions by program. Courses listed as restricted cannot be used as General Education electives for the specified programs. If a program is not listed, there are currently no General Education elective restrictions associated with that program. While this exclusion list is reviewed and updated each academic year, restrictions may change at any time to reflect updates to Programs of Study, curriculum, and course offerings.
