Preplacement TB & Immunization Services

TB Tests and Immunizations will only be available to students without OHIP by purchase of the Preplacement TB and Immunization Package for $200 CAD.

To purchase the package, please visit the Health & Wellness Centre (room C109, Fennell Campus). All preplacement appointments will be booked in a series of 4 appointments at the same time. An appointment series will occur on a combined Monday and Wednesday schedule, or a Tuesday and Thursday schedule.

What is included in the Preplacement TB and Immunization Package?

  • Up to 4 TB skin test appointments (2 TB skin tests and 2 TB read appointments)
  • Immunity Bloodwork Requisition from a Physician at the Health & Wellness Centre
  • Bloodwork completed on site as applicable as per nursing assessment. Please note that the Health & Wellness Centre may only complete bloodwork appointments if the requisition was received from one of our on-site Physicians. Requisitions from external clinics will not be accepted.
  • Follow up prescription for Hepatitis B and Varicella vaccines, if required
  • Vaccine administration by Health & Wellness Centre Nurses, as required:
    • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
    • Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertussis (TDAP)
    • Varicella (additional cost for vaccine which can be purchased through Health & Wellness Centre, and claimed through StudentCare Insurance Plan)
    • Tetanus (TD)
    • Polio (IPV)
    • TDAP + Polio
    • Hepatitis B (additional cost for vaccine which can be purchased through Health & Wellness Centre, and claimed through StudentCare Insurance Plan)
    • Final Nurse sign off on preplacement immunization forms. Signed forms are to be submitted to preplacement services by the student. 

Are there any additional costs that may apply when receiving service in the Health & Wellness Centre?

In some instances, students are responsible for additional costs associated with receiving treatment and/or follow-up care. Additional costs could be:

  • Costs paid directly to a laboratory if an x-ray is required
  • Costs paid directly to a laboratory if the student chooses to complete bloodwork at another location
  • Any costs related to a positive TB skin test, such as follow up x-ray or subsequent treatment
  • Cost for Varicella vaccine (vaccine available for purchase at the Health & Wellness Centre)
  • Cost for Hepatitis B vaccine (vaccine available for purchase at Health & Wellness Centre)

Are there any fees for missed appointments?

Failure to attend scheduled appointments may result in additional charges. Fees must be paid prior to rebooking missed appointments.

  • Failure to attend a scheduled TB read will result in a $20 fee to restart the TB test
  • Failure to attend a Physician appointment will result in a $50 missed appointment fee
