In order to welcome more students back to the Mohawk College Residence, in consultation with Hamilton Public Health, the college is adopting a mandatory vaccination requirement for all students wishing to stay in the Residence starting in the Fall 2021 semester.
Starting in the Fall 2021 semester, all students living in Residence will be required to provide proof they have been fully vaccinated or have received at least a first dose of a Government of Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccine. Our Student Wellness team will work with students to help navigate the Hamilton Community for the second vaccine, if the first dose was received in August.
If students are not able to access vaccines in their home community or have received a vaccination not approved by the Government of Canada, the Mohawk College Student Wellness team will assist with scheduling a vaccine appointment upon arrival. Vaccine information is confidential and can only be shared with a health care professional under PHIPA regulation. Please email a team member from our Student Health and Wellness team (healthycampus [at] mohawkcollege.ca) with any questions about scheduling a vaccine appointment when you arrive on campus.
Those students who indicate they are unable to obtain a vaccine prior to arrival will be provided with access details and will have 14 days after moving in to be vaccinated in Hamilton. Residence move-in will only be permitted when this requirement has been met or a vaccine exemption has been approved.
Vaccination exemptions may be granted to people who have either a medical accommodation or an objection based on disability or creed.
Students who decide to withdraw their application due to this policy will be fully refunded as long as the withdrawal is completed on their MyHousing Portal on or before August 9, 2021. Any withdrawals after this date will be subject to the Residence withdrawal and cancellation policy.
