Our unique “diploma to degree” program is tailor-made for college graduates wishing to upgrade their education and further their careers.


  • Our unique “diploma to degree” program is tailor-made for college graduates wishing to upgrade their education and further their careers.
  • Flexible evening and weekend schedule runs for 12 months of the year, giving you the option to work full-time while completing the program.
  • The management component of B.Tech. prepares graduates to advance their careers to management and supervisory levels and gives graduates an upper hand in industry, allowing them to offer transferable skills that go beyond their subject specialization.

Program Highlights

  • Select one of four program streams:
  • All eligible program entrants receive two years’ worth of credit from their previously completed college advanced diploma. Students enter into Level 3 of the program.
  • All courses are offered during evenings and Saturdays at McMaster University.
  • Complete 24 courses, including 7 management courses, to earn your degree.
  • Prepare for upward career mobility or further education.
  • Average lecture size is only 28 students.
  • Course content and projects are developed in response to today’s industry needs.
  • Software Engineering Technology offers online courses, allowing students to complete their degree online. All exams must be written in-person at McMaster University.

What you'll learn

  • Civil Engineering Infrastructure Technology:
    • Evaluation, inspection, repair, and rehabilitation, as well as decision making and asset management of various infrastructures from both technical and managerial points of view.
  • Manufacturing Engineering Technology:
    • Manufacturing process planning and improvement, structure design and analysis, and system control and analysis from both technical and managerial points of view.
  • Power and Energy Engineering Technology:
    • Power quality, protection, control, energy management, and renewable energy technologies such as biomass, fuel-cells, geothermal, solar, and wind from both technical and managerial points of view.
  • Software Engineering Technology:
    • Design, development, and deployment of computing systems in the software products and computing infrastructure areas from both technical and managerial points of view.

    • The Degree Completion Program will consider students who have completed an advanced three-year technology diploma in a related technology field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 75% (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). If you have a cumulative average of between 70 and 74.9%, please thinkeng [at] (contact us) to discuss the alternate pathway that may be open to you.
    • Proof of English proficiency for applicants where English is not their first language must be submitted to Ontario Colleges
    • Note: You must submit transcripts for all post secondary work that you have completed (at a university or college in Canada or internationally), including education in any field completed prior to or after your advanced diploma.

    Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English. Options are available for mature applicants.

    Experiential Learning


    All programs include eight months (two academic terms) of co-op work. Students who have already completed at least two co-op terms as part of their college diploma or who will have sufficient work experience in a related field by the time course requirements are completed can be assessed for a waiver.

    Opportunities for grads

    • B.Tech. graduates are able to achieve a more direct path to a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licence. Many have obtained their P.Eng. status. Typically, B.Tech. graduates must:
      • Write a number of examinations as specified by the PEO
      • Write an engineering and ethics examination
      • Fulfill a Capstone Report requirement
      • Complete 4 years of engineering work experience, typically under a professional engineer
