Below are instructions to support the success of your online counselling appointments. We encourage you to contact our Front Desk if you experience any challenges.

Entering Virtual Appointments

Desktop/Laptop Computer

If you are using a desktop or laptop computer to access your virtual appointment, please follow the instructions below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. You will receive an e-mail five minutes prior to the start time of your appointment. This email will provide a link to your appointment, as well as a code.
  2. Use Google Chrome as your browser type when entering virtual appointments. Once you're on the virtual visit login page, enter your Appointment Code and your Last Name to begin.
  3. Your appointment time will appear on the screen. Select your appointment to continue.
  4. You will be prompted to enable access to both your webcam and microphone on your device. You must provide access to both your webcam and microphone to enter the virtual appointment. Once you're in the appointment, you are free to turn off your webcam or microphone as needed.
  5. Review the Agreement, and select "Accept" to enter the virtual waiting room, where you will have access to functions such as Chat, Tasks, and Visit Information.
  6. When the Counsellor begins the virtual visit, you will receive a prompt on your screen indicating that the Counsellor wants you to join the call. By accepting this prompt, you will enter into the call.

If you are using the UpPatient client care app to access your virtual appointment, please follow the instructions below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Download the UpPatient app to your device.
  2. If this is your first time accessing the UpPatient app, at the bottom of the login screen, choose 'Sign Up'.
  3. On the Sign Up screen, fill in your email address, name and other required information fields; create your unique UpPatient password; and then choose 'Sign Up'. 
  4. Review the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, and then select 'Agree'.
  5. When you receive the verification email, select 'Verify My Email Address'.
  6. Once your email is verified, open UpPatient.
  7. If this is your first time logging in, you will be prompted to select a clinic to connect with. Scroll through, or search for: Mohawk College Health and Wellness
  8. The app will request you to input an ID. Under ID type, select: Student ID #
  9. In the ID Value field, input your 9-digit Mohawk College student ID number. If you have accessed our services before, the app might ask you to confirm that you are an existing patient; if you are an existing patient, select 'Continue'.
  10. You are now logged in!

Requesting Appointments Online

New Counselling Intakes

Students who are new to counselling, or have not accessed our services since the start of the Winter 2022 semester, can follow the steps below to request a Counselling Intake appointment through our eBooking portal.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open a new Google Chrome browser, and navigate to the Mohawk College Health & Wellness InputHealth login portal.
  2. Select 'Patient' to begin.
  3. Users will be prompted to select whether services have been accessed before. Students who are new to Counselling Services, or who have not accessed our services since the start of the Winter 2022 semester will select 'No'. 
  4. Select the Service Type.
  5. Select the Appointment Type.
  6. Select a date and time for the Appointment Request.
  7. Provide your Basic Information on the next page, ensuring that all the required fields are completed.
  8. Review the details of the Appointment Request, and then submit the request.
  9. When prompted, complete the 'Pre-Visit Q'naires' attached to the Appointment Request.
  10. Wait for confirmation by email or text of your Appointment Request. Our team reviews and confirms Appointment Requests between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open a new Google Chrome browser, and navigate to the Mohawk College Health & Wellness InputHealth login portal.
  2. Select 'Patient' to begin.
  3. Users will be prompted to select whether services have been accessed before. Students who have accessed Counselling Services since the start of the Winter 2022 semester will select 'Yes'. 
  4. A login window will appear. Complete all the required fields. Users who have not yet logged into the portal might need to use their Mohawk College email, and select 'Other' as their Sex while logging in.
  5. A 1-time passcode will be sent by email. Retrieve the passcode, and input into the passcode field to login.
  6. Select the Service Type.
  7. Select the Appointment Type.
  8. Select a date and time for the Appointment Request.
  9. Provide your Basic Information on the next page, ensuring that all the required fields are completed.
  10. Review the details of the Appointment Request, and then submit the request.
  11. If prompted, complete any 'Pre-Visit Q'naires' attached to the Appointment Request.
  12. Wait for confirmation by email or text of your Appointment Request. Our team reviews and confirms Appointment Requests between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Tips for a Successful Virtual Appointment

Setting Up Technology for Virtual Appointments

  1. Prior to your appointment, make sure you have a secure internet or Wi-Fi connection for the call.
  2. Virtual appointments should only be access via the latest version of Chrome on a desktop/laptop computer.
  3. If accessing virtual appointments from a mobile device, use Safari browser on iPhones and iPads (iOS devices) and Google Chrome on Android devices. 
  4. If using Bluetooth headphones to join the call, be sure that these are configured to your device and connected prior to entering the virtual appointment.

Preparing for Virtual Appointments

  1. Find a quiet, private space where you will not be interrupted for the duration of your appointment.
  2. Use headphones for increased privacy.
  3. Choose a spot in the room with the best lighting.
  4. If you do not have a cellular data plan, be sure that you connect to the appointment in a secure WiFi zone.
  5. If you experience technical difficulties, contact the Front Desk or your Counsellor for support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Laptop/Desktop Computer

Q: What should I do if my browser screen is coming up blank when I try to access the InputHealth website?
A: Be sure that you are using Google Chrome as your browser type. Other browser types are not accepted when using this platform.

Q: What do I do if the pin that was given to me is not working to enter the virtual appointment?
A: Be sure that there are no additional spaces added on either side of the pin when logging into your virtual appointment. If this does not work, try closing your browser, and then re-opening to try again.

Q: What should I do if my the platform won't allow me to accept my camera and microphone permissions?
A: It may be that you have pop-ups and add-ons disabled on your browser. Within the settings of your Google Chrome browser, you can adjust your camera and microphone permissions manually.

Mobile UpPatient App

Q: My Counsellor said they sent an invite to join UpPatient. What should I do if I didn't receive the email to join UpPatient?
A: Please check your Junk or Spam folder. If you still did not receive the invite, you can also find the UpPatient App by searching the app store on your device.

Q: I have made an account in UpPatient and need to verify my email address to continue, but the link sent to my email opens an empty browser.
A: If verifying your e-mail for the mobile app on a mobile device, ensure that you are using Google Chrome or Safari as your browser type. Otherwise, you will need to hold the button for verifying your email, copy the link, and paste into the appropriate browser. 

Q: What should I do if I didn't receive an email to verify my UpPatient login?
A: Please check your Junk or Spam folder. If you still did not receive the link to verify your login, you may have misspelled your e-mail address during Sign Up. Try signing up again.

Q: What should I do if my password is rejected when I try to login?
A: If your password is rejected, try resetting your password by selecting 'Forgot Password'
