As a high school student, you have the opportunity to start working towards an apprenticeship now, with the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program(OYAP).

How it works

  • High school students work with their Cooperative Education departments to determine trade-related opportunities.
  • Students in Grade 11 and 12 have the opportunity to start training in a skilled trade while completing the requirements for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Benefits

  • Students have an opportunity to become registered apprentices while attending high school
  • Work towards becoming a certified journeyperson in a skilled trade while completing a secondary school diploma
