International Scholarships and Bursaries

** IMPORTANT International students will now apply for awards in the MyMohawk Financial Assistance Profile. This one application will include you for review of all awards you meet the criteria on.

**  The application will close September 17th 4:30 pm.

Applicants Must:

  • Meet eligibility criteria during the Fall 2019 and/or have attended Winter 2019 semester. (September - December 2019 and January - April 2019)
  • Be full-time International Students at Mohawk College.
  • Be in good academic standing and show academic progression.
  • Not have any academic offences on record.

Please review the list of awards below.

  • Entrance Awards - are available for new post-secondary students in their 1st semester for Fall 2019
  • Awards - are available for students in semester 2 or above that have successfully completed at least 1 semester in a post-secondary program

Assemble your submission package based on the criteria guidelines. You will be asked to upload your submission package when you complete your award application. Submissions without a letter or My Academic Progress will not be reviewed.

** IMPORTANT  Students applying should prepare their application documentation prior to submission. All required documents are submitted electronically through an upload when completing the online application. Students must include an application letter (Letter Helpful Tips) and a copy of their My Academic Progress in the upload process. Additional documents can be included in the file if requested in the criteria. All files must be saved as Mohawkstudentnumber.lastname.firstname.

Academic Entrance Scholarship

• Highest GPA on documentation used for Mohawk College English entrance requirement.

• Students who come from a country where English is the first language.

Supporting Documentation:

Student must submit a letter explaining why they should be considered for this award and include a copy of documentation used for Mohawk College English entrance requirement. Examples include, high-school transcript, language proficiency examinations and Mohawk College pre-admission English Assessment results.

English Assessment Entrance Scholarship

• Highest TOEFL/IELTS score achieved prior to admission to Mohawk College.

• Students whose first language is not English.

Supporting Documentation:

Student must submit a letter explaining why they should be considered for this award and include a copy of their TOEFL or IELTS used for Mohawk College English entrance requirement. Mohawk College pre-admission English Assessment results are also accepted if IELTS/TOEFL is not available.

Guard Me GAS-EAP Scholarship

•  Student must be in good academic standing.

  • 75% GPA or greater based on most recently completed academic term

Student must have successfully completed the GAS-EAP Program and be registered in semester 1 of a full-time Post-Secondary program at Mohawk College.

Scholarship for a GAS-EAP Student

•  Student must be in good academic standing.

Student must have successfully completed the GAS-EAP Program and be registered in semester 1 of a full-time Post-Secondary program at Mohawk College.

Awards - semester two and higher

Faculty Award – All Programs

• 75% GPA or greater based on most recent academic term.

Student must submit a letter explaining why they should be considered for this award and include a copy of their MAP (available on MyMohawk) to show academic progress and current GPA.

Good Citizen Scholarship

• Student must be in good academic standing with a 60% or higher GPA

• Student must be involved in social activities organized through recognized student bodies (student government or internal related activities); Athletic events (intercollegiate or intramural); Academic activities (tutoring, study groups, etc.).

Supporting Documentation:

Student must submit a letter explaining why they should be considered for this award and include a copy of their MAP (available on MyMohawk) to show academic progress and current GPA.

International Student Leadership Scholarship

• 70% GPA or greater based on most recent academic year at Mohawk College.

• Student must demonstrate the demeanor of a good Mohawk College citizen (provide support for fellow students, class leadership, and is a volunteer assisting in the Mohawk College community ie. peer tutor, MoCrew, international mentor, etc.)

Supporting Documentation:

Student must submit a letter explaining why they should be considered for this award and include a copy of their MAP (available on MyMohawk) to show academic progress and current GPA. In addition, students must submit a copy of their co-curricular record and any  documentation or letters of recognition to support that they meet the award criteria.

Guard.me Post-Secondary Scholarship

• 75% GPA or greater based on most recently completed academic term at Mohawk College. Student must provide a copy of My Academic Progress with application letter.

Supporting Documentation:

Student must submit a letter explaining why they should be considered for this award and include a copy of their My Academic Progress MAP (available on MyMohawk) to show academic progress and current GPA. In addition, students must submit any documentation or letters of recognition to support that they meet the award criteria.

Guard.me Post Graduate Certificate Scholarship

• 75% GPA or greater based on most recently completed academic term at Mohawk College. Student must provide a copy of My Academic Progress with application letter.

• Students must be enrolled in a post-grad certificate with good academic standing. Preference will be given to students who completed Post-Secondary at Mohawk.

Supporting Documentation:

Student must submit a letter explaining why they should be considered for this award and include a copy of their My Academic Progress MAP (available on MyMohawk) to show academic progress and current GPA. In addition, students must submit any documentation or letters of recognition to support that they meet the award criteria.

Guard Me Community Partner

• Student must provide a letter from a community organization or business describing the student's community involvement. Student must be involved in social activities organized through recognized student bodies (student government or internal related activities); Athletic events (intercollegiate or intramural); Academic activities (tutoring, study groups, etc.)

• 80% GPA or greater based on most recently completed academic term.

Supporting Documentation:

Student must submit a letter explaining why they should be considered for this award and include a copy of their MAP (available on MyMohawk) to show academic progress and current GPA.

Guard Me Global Citizen

• 75% GPA or greater based on most recently completed academic term.

• Student must have demonstrated participation in events, workshops etc., that are centered around internationalisation and diversity or inclusion.
