How to Apply for Full-time Student Awards

Each semester, complete your Financial Assistance Profile to be considered for all of our bursaries and scholarships.

The Winter Application, available from Monday, November 16, 2020 to January 19, 2021 at 4:30 p,m.

 

We encourage all students to apply for awards. Our one-for-all Full-time Student Awards application process means you will automatically be considered for the awards, scholarships and bursaries for which you are eligible.


3 tips for application success

  1. Apply by the deadline. Incomplete applications, or applications submitted after the deadline, will NOT be accepted or considered for an award.
  2. Use your Mohawk email address. All awards communication is sent via your Mohawk email. It is your responsibility to check your Mohawk email for information and updates.
  3. To be considered for award funding at Mohawk College, your MyMohawk Financial Assessment Profile must have an Application letter uploaded as part of the application process.  Review the Letter Helpful Tips (PDF) for advice about what to include in your letter.

Eligibility

  • Academic success in your previous semester or previous academic record is required to be included in reviews.
  • Funds received through this application are taxable.
  • Students in MoMac programs need to apply at their home institutions.

    Domestic Students: to be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Protected Person.
  • Have lived in Canada for the past 12 consecutive months and/or have lived in Ontario for the past 12 consecutive months.
  • You must register for a full-time course load for the semester you are applying to be considered for funding.
  • Returning students to Mohawk must have a successful previous academic record.
  • No Academic Offence on record.
  • Students on a paid co-op placement are not eligible for funding.

    International Students: to be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:
  • You must register for a full-time course load or in a co-op term for the semester you are applying to be considered for funding.
  • Returning students to Mohawk must have a successful previous academic record.
  • No Academic Offence on record.

    Second Career students are not eligible to receive Tuition Set Aside funding.
  • Second Career students can apply for and are considered for donor-based awards. Second Career sponsored students should inquire with Second Career to determine how receiving an award may impact their Second Career funding.

    Continuing Education Students are not eligible to apply.

Preparing to apply

Completing the “one application” will require some thought and effort on your part. Please read through the following application requirements.

  1. Use our Budget Form PDF to prepare your budget. This helps us determine the level of your financial need.
  2. You will be asked to write a letter to introduce yourself and explain your need. Review the Letter Helpful Tips (PDF) for advice about what to include in your letter. If you fail to submit an appropriate letter with your application, you may be ineligible for some of the funding options.

Tip: Please pay close attention to the application deadline dates. Failure to respond by the submission deadline will result in your application being removed from reviews and/or may result in funding availability being rescinded.


Completing the application form

After you have reviewed the eligibility, application process, and prepared your supporting documents, you’re ready to apply.

Please remember you must use your Mohawk email for your financial assistance application and all communications.

For the best experience, it is recommended that Firefox or Chrome browsers are used throughout your application process. We ask Apple users to please not use Safari to complete your application as it is not compatible with our process.

After you’ve applied

Timing

Applications are reviewed throughout each semester. You must monitor your Mohawk email account for requests for additional information and for all awards announcements. As a review is completed, students will be notified. If you have not received an email, you are still in the process of being included in reviews. You will receive a final review notification when all reviews are finalized.

Supporting documentation

For some awards, we may require additional documentation to ensure you meet the required criteria. You will be contacted through your Mohawk email only. Please remember:

  • It is your responsibility to check your Mohawk email address for notifications about supporting documentation
  • You MUST provide the requested supporting documentation by the requested deadline. Carefully follow the instructions in the email you receive.
  • Failure to submit supporting documentation will result in elimination from further review.

Confirmation:

After you complete the online application you can preview your submission and Save or Print a copy for your records. Once you submit the application you will receive an email confirmation. Keep the email confirmation for your records.
