The Celebration of Learning recognizes outstanding students who exemplify some or all of Mohawk College’s Institutional Learning Outcomes and values. Students who apply for or are nominated for one of the awards below are communicators, collaborators, critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens who are involved in the Mohawk community and beyond.
When applying for an award or nominating someone else, students and nominators should consider both the criteria listed above and the additional, award-specific criteria listed below. Student applicants are also encouraged to showcase their commitment to building a Co-Curricular Record (CCR) by attaching their CCR transcript to their application.

The Accessibility Leadership Award recognizes a student who demonstrates resiliency, contributes to student wellness, and strives to foster a learning environment that is inclusive and welcoming to ensure dignity, integration, and equal opportunity for all College community members.

Alumni Relations | Alumni Outstanding Student Leader Award |
This award is presented to an outstanding student leader in their graduating year who is highly engaged at the College and works to foster a connection with Alumni Relations. The student who receives this award continuously works to find ways to make meaningful connections between past and current Mohawk students.
Minimum GPA: 75% Other requirements: Winner must be registered as full-time student.

Athletics and Recreation | Outstanding Varsity Athlete Award |
The recipient of this award is a member of a varsity team in the current academic year who shows a commitment to sport and community. The award recipient is active in the college or local community in volunteer or leadership roles.
Minimum GPA: 75% Other requirements: Varsity athlete

Athletics and Recreation | Outstanding Recreation Participant Award |
The recipient of this award is a member of an intramural team or is a recreation participant in the current academic year who shows a commitment to sport and community. The award recipient is active in the college or local community in volunteer or leadership roles.
Minimum GPA: 75% Other requirements: Intramural or recreational athletics participant.

Centre for Community Partnerships & Learning | Commitment to Education Award |
This award recognizes a student from Community Partnerships & Learning who displays a strong commitment to education and demonstrates resilience in their pursuit of learning. The recipient of this award is a leader among their peers or in the community and positively contributes to Mohawk’s learning environment in a City School, Academic Upgrading, or LINC classroom.
Other requirements: Nominees must be academically successful students who have been registered in a City School, Academic Upgrading or LINC program within the past two years.

Co-operative Education & Experiential Learning | Co-operative Education & Work-Integrated Learning Award |
This award recognizes a student who has positively impacted their workplace, academic institution, community, and themselves during a co-op work term or placement (field/clinical/practicum).
Minimum GPA: 75% Other requirements: Students must have completed a co-op work term or placement between January and December 2019.
Recipient may also be eligible for provincial ($750) and national ($1,000) awards related to co-operative education and work-integrated learning. To be considered for these awards, nominees must submit: resume, employer endorsed letter, & one-page personal statement

IDEAWORKS | Applied Research Award of Excellence |
The Applied Research Award of Excellence recognizes a student who works with IDEAWORKS as a co-op student, volunteer or as part of a capstone course. The recipient of this award has made a significant contribution to the success of an applied research project and has demonstrated the ability to share ideas, contribute to a team environment, and present a research project and outcomes. The recipient is a problem solver who works to meet the needs of community and/or industry partners. This student also demonstrates an understanding of how research can be used to overcome societal and economic challenges.
Minimum GPA: 75% Other requirements: Currently working towards a Mohawk College credential (diploma, degree, designation, certificate).

Indigenous Education & Student Services | Indigenous Leadership Award |
This award is presented to an Indigenous student who has demonstrated leadership, humility and lifting up of others and who is highly engaged within the College and community. In the spirit of communication, collaboration, and responsible citizenship, the winner of this award promotes holistic well-being, cultural understanding, and the Indigenous community. The recipient must be in good academic standing.

International Student Services | International Student Leader Award |
This award is presented to an International student who is highly engaged at the College and in the community. The student is a role model to others. They demonstrate dedication to their academic studies as well as having significant involvement in activities that support Mohawk, on and off campus.

Learning Support Centre | Learning Support Centre Leadership Award |
This award recognizes three student leaders for their outstanding contributions to the Learning Support Centre team. These student leaders exemplify strong communication and collaboration skills while providing academic peer-to-peer support. These highly engaged and dedicated leaders not only excel in their studies, they empower students to reach their academic goals while promoting student success at Mohawk College.
Minimum GPA: 75% Other requirements: Nominees must be current leaders with the LSC.

Social Inc. | Social Inclusion Award |
The Social Inclusion Award is awarded to a student who has made a significant contribution towards promoting and advancing diversity and inclusion at Mohawk College. The recipient of this works to foster appreciation and celebration of diversity and inclusivity within the College environment.

The MoSpirit Award is presented to a MoCrew student who displays outstanding leadership qualities, inspires others to get involved, and positively impacts the spirit and energy of the Mohawk College community.

This award is presented to a student volunteer who has made a significant contribution of their time and who has made an outstanding effort towards enhancing the Mohawk College Community.

Sustainability | Sustainability Award |
The Sustainability Award is presented to a student who goes above and beyond to advance sustainability on campus. This student leads by example and is committed to raising awareness of sustainability on campus and in the community through activism, volunteering, and peer-to-peer activities. Students who receive the Sustainability Award are passionate about a range of sustainability topics such as local food, responsible waste management, active transportation, renewable energy, and more.
