Second Career Information

What is Second Career?

Second Career is a Government of Ontario grant program that helps laid off workers get back to work in high demand occupations. You may qualify for up to $28,000 or more in some cases, to pay for books, living expenses, to help care for dependents, travel & transportation, disability supports and other living and training costs.

Our team will work with you to complete an assessment interview to determine your eligibility and provide you with information on next steps. To learn more, please register here.

Second Career is only available to those who qualify.

If you have been laid off, are unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week, or are seeking training and education for a new career in Ontario, you may qualify for Second Career.

Are you eligible to apply for Second Career funding?

The Government of Ontario determines who is eligible for Second Career funding. Below is the process for assessing funding eligibility:

  1. Make an appointment to speak with an Employment Consultant, as only they can determine your eligibility to apply for the funding.
  2. If you are eligible to apply for the funding, you and your Employment Consultant will discuss your employment and career goals, and determine the best related program to get the training you need.
  3. Review the program information page and learning outcomes of your programs of interest to help with your selection. Be sure to review the admission requirements, as you must meet these requirements to obtain our Second Career Acceptance Letter.
