Accessible Learning Services (ALS) provides a wide array of supports to meet student needs and promote growth. Our diverse team has years of expertise in accessibility and accommodations and is ready to support you. Meet our team below and learn more about the roles they occupy.

Roles

Accessible Learning Services Front Desk

Elle Duncan & Gabe Linden

Our Front Desk team serves as the first point of contact for Accessible Learning Services (ALS). They play a key role in facilitating the ALS intake process, supporting students with the submission and documentation of disability-related information, and assisting with the scheduling of appointments. In addition, the team is available to respond to inquiries from students and the broader community, providing information on the range of services and academic accommodations offered through ALS.

Student Transition Coordinator

Olivia Boros

The Student Transition Coordinator can assist you with obtaining the documentation you need to access accommodations, understanding Mohawk College Accessible Learning Services support if you are coming from another College or University in Ontario, navigating transfer credit services at Mohawk, connecting you with other College services, and sending your documentation from Mohawk Accessible Learning to another College or University in Ontario.

Accessible Learning Services Technician

Greg Gagnon

The ALS Technician is responsible for supporting students in accessing, converting, and obtaining course materials in the alternative formats required to meet their accommodation needs. The Technician also manages the loan and return of ALS equipment and technology and supports the daily operations of the Learning Technology Education Centre (LTEC), the dedicated student workspace within Accessible Learning Services.

Adaptive Technologist and Learning Skills Advisor

Kelly Dymond, Letara Couto

The Adaptive Technologist and Learning Skills Advisor uses a student-centred, strengths­ based approach in supporting students. The focus of the Adaptive Technologist/Learning Skills Advisor is to promote autonomy and efficiency in learning through the use of technology and learning skills.

Accessibility Counsellor

Annette Simms, Erin Poudrier, Haylee Bloxham, Jillian Morris, Kasey Waddell, Nicholas Triantafillou, Scott Green, Shriva Pathak

Within the framework of a case management model, the Accessibility Counsellor works with students to develop Academic Accommodations to address a student's accommodation needs. Working collaboratively with an Accessibility Counsellor involves discussions of student strengths, and how strengths are used to compensate for areas of challenge in an effort to mitigate the impact a disability may have on a program of study. Accessibility Counsellors work closely with professors and College service areas to support a student's accommodation needs.

Accessibility Support Officer

Johanna Dunham

The Accessibility Support Officer supports both the Accessibility Counsellor and students by facilitating timely access to ALS services. The Accessibility Support Officer helps students navigate the supports available within the College and the procedures of ALS.

Director

Sarah Irwin-Gardner

The Director of Equitable Learning and Health & Wellness provides strategic leadership and oversight for Accessible Learning Services (ALS) and the Health & Wellness team. This role ensures an integrated, student-centered approach to accessibility, health, and wellness supports that enhance student success and foster inclusive campus environments.

Manager

Kelsey Clohecy

The Manager of Equitable Learning oversees Accessible Learning Services, ensuring that students with disabilities receive the academic accommodations and supports they need to succeed. This role provides leadership to staff, ensures compliance with accessibility legislation, and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community partners to foster an inclusive learning environment.
