Mohawk College recognizes that everyone’s path is unique, and life often leads to new directions. If you’re considering returning to school, review this information to determine what next steps to take.

Who are Mature Students?

A person who Is at least 19 years of age or older on or before the start of their program

As a mature student, you do not have a high school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED or CAEC). You are still required to satisfy the academic course requirements to enter programs at Mohawk College. As a mature applicant, you are able to access other pathways to satisfy admission requirements not otherwise accessible to applicants coming directly from high school.

As a mature student, you are eligible to apply to many of our programs even if you have not completed high school. However, mature students are still required to meet all program-specific admission requirements, such as prerequisites in English, math, and/or science. Some programs are competitive and may have extra requirements.

Degree Programs 

Mature students cannot complete Pre-Admission Testing to become eligible for Mohawk College Degree programs. Applicants must complete the program-specific pre-requisites before applying to a degree program in order to satisfy eligibility
