Program Highlights

  • Potential training opportunities include:
    • Canadian Firearms Safety and Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety courses (PAL/RPAL)
    • ASP Baton and Handcuffing
    • Situation Awareness Specialist
  • Simulated judgmental training systems and tactical scenario-based learning.
  • Work within a fully functional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
  • Work towards designations and acquire certification in industry recognised and desired skills
  • Gain a personalised understanding of fitness, health and general wellness needs for a successful career in the protection industry, while having the opportunity to prepare for industry standard fitness testing with experienced and respected trainers. 

What you'll learn

  • Examine computer investigative techniques, risk management, executive protection, threat assessments, intelligence gathering and analysis, and corporate asset protection.
  • Work towards designation as a Certified Fraud Examiner and Business Continuity Professional.
  • Experience practical exercises in advanced surveillance, close protection, intelligence gathering and event management.
  • Research the extensive, professional career opportunities available in a rapidly expanding industry to career and professional development.

Admission

Domestic and International student admission requirements

  • Minimum 2 year college diploma in Police Foundations, Community and Justice Services or Protection, Security and Investigation, Web Informatics or Security related field OR University Criminology degree OR Equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Some employment opportunities require that certain physical standards, driving abstracts and health standards, including vision, must be met
  • A Police Criminal Record Check (PCRC) and additional selection criteria may be used to assess applicants in this program (Pardons are possible, seek legal counsel)
  • Applicants should be advised that employers require a Police Criminal Record Check
  • Security or Private Investigation license recommended
  • Proof of English proficiency for applicants where English is not their first language must be submitted to Ontario Colleges

Language Requirements for Applicants with English as a Second Language

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English.
