Mohawk IT is implementing a new feature in our e-mail system that will make e-mails from external senders easier to recognize. Starting Wednesday, December 12th, 2018, a disclaimer message will be prepended to the body of ALL incoming e-mails from external senders and organizations.
The disclaimer will read: [EXTERNAL EMAIL ALERT – BE AWARE]
This disclaimer message is a subtle reminder to always use caution when opening emails from unknown or external senders. Internal e-mails and e-mails from Mohawk College systems will not contain this disclaimer. Be wary of any e-mails that appear to come from Mohawk College but have this disclaimer attached, report those messages as Spam or Phishing.
Adding this disclaimer is part of an effort to combat spam and phishing emails. Each semester, many students, faculty, and staff respond to spam and phishing emails compromising their account security. This message should be a constant reminder not to share your password with anyone for any reason. Mohawk College IT will not ask for your password.
