Student Pending Visa Approval – Visa Status Updates

April 2021 – In response to the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) decision to allow students to study prior to formal visa approval, Mohawk College will allow students to register from their home country and begin virtual classes in Summer 2021 with a Stage 1 Approval in Principle (AIP) from IRCC. Students submitting an application to study with AIP will need to submit proof of their AIP through the online request form sent to all students. This form acknowledges their understanding of the terms and conditions associated with their registration. Following the submission students will receive details on how to register and select their timetable.

There is no guarantee that a student will receive their full study permit approval. AIP students should refer to their acknowledgment for specific refund information. Should you require an additional copy of the refund policy, or have any questions regarding it and/or withdrawing please contact international.services [at] mohawkcollege.ca. AIP Students have 5 business days to notify Mohawk College of any decision by IRCC, whether approved or denied. Student who are appealing the IRCC decision can remain in classes during the appeal process but must indicate this to the International Student Services team.

AIP students who have received a denial of their Approval in Principle and wish to request a refund, please visit our Refund and Withdrawal website or email international.services [at] mohawkcollege.ca.
