Work Placements in Canada
We are no longer issuing Co-op Work Permit letters because on April 1, 2026, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) removed the requirement for post-secondary international students to obtain a Co-op Work Permit.
Post-secondary international students participating in a work-integrated learning activity (co-op work term, field/practicum/clinical placement, or service-learning activity) must hold a valid study permit with appropriate work authorization conditions and no restrictions that would prevent participation in the placement (for example, restrictions related to healthcare or childcare settings) before beginning their placement.
For additional information, please visit our Permits & Visas Page or contact International Student Services.
