Changes to Application Status

Under some circumstances, students may wish to change program, defer or withdraw from the Mohawk program they were accepted to and request a refund. Should you wish to withdraw from your program, please be aware of Mohawk College’s refund policies.

Requests to withdraw or defer acceptance are handled through the International Application Service (IAS) system. Simply login into your OCAS International Applicant portal to update and modify your application and edit your enrolment information to defer or withdraw from your program.

Refund Policy

Mohawk College’s International student refund policy has been developed in compliance with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and University's Policy on Tuition and Ancillary Fees and the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Study Permit guidelines.

For payments made outside of Canada, please note that if a refund is required, the funds will be returned to the originating source (i.e. person making the payment.) Therefore, it is advisable for students not to make payments through an Agent for this reason. Please note: We will no longer be transferring payments to other institutions. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will be notified of any students not actively registered at Mohawk College.

In accordance with industry best practices and to abide by the Government of Canada’s guidelines, Mohawk College will only return funds to the original payer and payer account. The funds will not be transferred to another institution.

  • Any wire transfer fees or other bank charges associated with returning the funds will be subtracted from the amount returned.
  • Mohawk College will require between 60 and 90 days to complete the return of funds once Mohawk College has received all documentation required to support the refund request.
  • Mohawk College bears no responsibility for funds that do not reach their destination due to inaccurate or obsolete financial information provided by the student. Applicants/students are responsible for all banking and foreign exchange charges associated with their payment/refund.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada will be notified of the student's withdrawal or transfer from the College.
